River Country and Fort Wilderness
This beautiful, rustic-style water park, located within Disney's 730-acre Fort Wilderness Resort and
Campground, remains a very popular visitor attraction, especially with young families. The River Country's
Ol' Swimmin' Hole, on the edge of Bay Lake, provides endless fun for kids and adults alike. There are huge
boulders which act as jumping and diving platforms, rope swings, powerful water chutes, corkscrew flume
rides and inner tube adventures. Rive Country is the smallest of the three Disney water parks, and can get
very busy. However it does tend to quiet down in the later afternoon, and makes for a perfect place to wind
down and relax, after a hard day sightseeing. Fort Wilderness boasts a very impressive range of outdoor
activities including horse riding and various water sports. Largemouth bass fishing trips are organized, and
bluegill excursions for the younger ones. You can rent bicycles and canoes, or join a game of volleyball or
basketball. There is also a petting zoo for children. If all this sounds a bit hectic, why not just lounge around
at the lakeside beach, topping up that tan. The opening hours of the parks are daily from 10am to 5pm, but
these are normally extended during summer months and holidays.
