Busch Gardens
This is one of Florida's top attractions, and makes for a superb and ideal family day out. It opened in 1959
and lies about 75 minutes west of Orlando, in a place called Tampa. There is a largely African slant, with 10
different themed areas, including Nairobi, Timbuktu and the Serengeti Plain. The park covers over 335
acres and boasts one of the countries's best known and best loved zoos. With more than 2,800 animals from
over 300 different species strolling through the grasslands of the Serengeti Plain and inhabiting the rocks
and waterfalls of the Great Ape Domain, this really is a photographers paradise. Along with the show side
of things, Busch Gardens also plays a very important role in the breeding and conserving of endangered
species, with many proudly on display at the Nairobi Animal Nursery. Although the stunning range of
animals provide for wonderful entertainment, this is by no means the sum total of things to do or see. Why
not take a ride on one of the tallest and longest inverted roller coasters in the world, the dueling, double
wooden Gwazi and Montu. The Kumba also rates very highly in the world of steel roller coasters, and
makes for a exhilarating ride, if you dare. Various water rides also prove extremely popular. The gardens
are a children's heaven, with the interactive Land of the Dragons play area, and spectacular ice shows in the
Moroccan Palace Theatre. Strollers are available to rent here, and there are baby-changing and nursing
areas in Land of the Dragons.
